The pay is very good for the area that I live in. My fathers has worked for the company for over 30 years and many people retire from there. If you work hard and show you care about your job moving up into better positions can be easy. When I wanted to move to a less demanding job so I could do schooling online from home they accommodated me even though they knew they would be potentially loosing me as an employee in the future.
