Listening to the Pierce Manf ad during the Packer game. They advertise that they have continuing training. This is a LIE. Ask ANYONE who works at Pierce. While you will get the 50s safety training every month you will NEVER get any organized sitdown training on how to actually do your job. You will not receive organized training on how to use the computer. You will not receive organized training on how their inventory system works. You will not receive organized training on how to actually do your job. You will not receive any organized training on how the proprietary electronics of the trucks work. You will not receive organized training on the specifics of how the items you build work. You will not receive organized training on how to troubleshoot the items you build when they don't work. The only training at Pierce is what they call Tribal Knowledge. When you build something you have never been trained on doesn't work, someone will tell you that it doesn't. Then it is your responsibility to try to find someone who actually knows how it is supposed to work and try to get them to help you. There are no materials to show you how to do your job. Nothing is documented on how to install what you are working on. You can look up the parts list but there is no documentation on how to put it together. Sure some engineer designed it on a computer, but there is no way engineering is ever going to share any of that with you. You have a puzzle with no instructions to put together. The only training you will receive is on the job training, where you will be expected to install equipment on trucks and you have someone who while he is doing his own other work, you can officially ask questions while you "learn as you burn." And most likely you will get that "training" like I did from someone who is also in himself training. Yes, this is how Pierce trained me on my latest position.
