Pros

Best product to be associated with, time off and insurance benefits good. Great people with a possion for what they do. Going back several years ago, Bob Bohn was great CEO of Oshkosh and Wilson Jones great President for Pierce.

Cons

Association with Oshkosh Corporation which has become too large, too quickly and not designed as an organization to succeed. Everyone looked at as Headcount vs. any value as an individual, part of the team or professional. Declining business conditions have led to too many layoffs over past couple years and closure/consolidations of other affiliated business units. Years of salary reductions, furloughs, layoffs and these were even being done while Pierce business was doing good but other businesses doing bad. The Oshksosh Defense segment is the only segment that didn't/doesn't have to participate in reductions and sacrifices. Willing to bring in high salried employees from the outside but hold salaries back of current employees. Well known that you have to leave and come back to get a raise. Not good when you have more VPs and Directors in Finance than you do staff accountants. Too many VPs and Directors with not enough "do-ers" and active managers to manage them. Way too top heavy of an organization. Should be changing to system of managing by payroll dollars instead of "heads" which then you can let 1 Director of VP go and not 3-5 other employees for the same cost. Who does more of the "work"

Pros

If you have the ability to troubleshoot machinery and like it, then you will do well.

Cons

If you are not a driven person to repair machinery on your own and want to learn more, then don't apply here. You will struggle!

Pros

Product, Customers, and it is never dull. I enjoy my work and the opportunity to build a broad technical understanding in a variety of areas. If you like old school professional relationships with sales people and customers, this is a great fit. Many people build lasting and strong relationships across out dealerships and customer base.

Cons

We are growing our manufacturing capabilities quickly, a lot of change is happening and that can be stressful. Leadership often sets goals that seem unachievable, which creates an environment of frustration in those periods. There has been a lot of movement in leadership, both from turnover, and from natural succession. This is adding to the pressure already existing from the growing throughput expectations and other big changes.
