Pros

Coming from a big company where things move slowly and everything is decided, working at Phil has been one of the best career decisions so far in my life. Phil is trying to solve a meaningful problem in a complicated US healthcare system. I am getting the opportunity to learn new technologies and implement them in my day to day job. Work I do directly impacts patients' lives and the company’s growth which I really find interesting. The CEO has a 1:1 session and talks about the vision and goals of the company with individual teams, which was new to me! Everyone on the team is helpful and encourages each other. Feedback from my manager is prompt and constructive which helps me correct things immediately. I am working remotely from the east coast even though the company is on the west coast and even though we are a startup our work is organized and well planned that gives a good work life balance which I really appreciate during these times. Also, getting recognized for my performance within few months really makes work hard for the company.

Cons

Hiring more on the east coast Need to hire more on QA team

Pros

Collaborative, focused, "get-it-done" culture. Day-to-day feels directly connected with the company mission. Everyone is working toward common goals, and teams are always willing to help each other out to make things happen.

Cons

Too many layers and approval processes for the size of the company, creating unnecessary overhead for planning, prioritization, and execution. Lack of transparency into roles and responsibilities for execs / teams makes it difficult to navigate the organization at times.

Pros

Talented Peers: The individual contributors here are some of the brightest in the industry. You will work with people who genuinely care about the product and each other.

Cons

Lack of Timezone Boundaries: While the company hires across the US, there is zero respect for local working hours. Meetings at unusual hours are a frequent occurrence. Asynchronous communication is non-existent or vague. Cycle of Perpetual Layoffs: The organization seems to be in a constant state of restructuring. Layoffs occur with such regularity that it has destroyed institutional knowledge and decimated morale. It’s hard to focus on long-term roadmaps when you’re wondering if your team will exist next quarter. "Always-On" Expectation: Due to the timezone issues and lean staffing, there is a heavy pressure to be available 24/7. Burnout isn't a possibility here,it’s an eventuality.
