Pros

It is a great learning environment where employees care about your progress and whether or not you enjoy your job.

Cons

I had to commute 45 minutes to get to work, but it was well worth the incredible opportunity.

Pros

-International Opportunities. -Interesting work material. -Some very knowledgeable employees.

Cons

-Despite an employee being an expert in a certain field, management will constantly disregard expertise to fit their opinions. -No external training. Internal training occasionally offered. -Extremely harsh comp-time policies for field employees. -Management completely disconnected from employees. -Management is very secretive and constantly withholds information from employees that could be used to overall advance the company. -Employee contract not shown until after employment offer has been accepted, and will not be provided at any time afterwards. -Pay is well below industry standard (even before downturn). -Very little exposure to industry standard software. Outdated and broken in-house software is used for mostly everything. -Penny pinching around every corner (even before downturn). -No HR department. This company has much potential to be an excellent workplace, but management is stubborn and over-controlling in nearly every sense. They take advantage of salaried employees by over-working them in the field with no time-off or monetary compensation. Part of being in a small start-up environment, is that you have the opportunity to create a work culture that is out of the box: fun, recognizes and celebrates its employees, and there would be more leeway compared with large corporation. Unfortunately Petrotel does not take that opportunity to create this environment for their employees. Instead, employee morale was very low, management was secretive about everything and did not communicate with employees.
