Pros
- Building rapport with residents can be really rewarding - More off days with 12 hour shift - In house meals - Outings
Cons
- Micromanaging boss who will not be on the floor with you, not empathetic to operations matters, pits employees against other employees or employees vs residents with statements like "So and so has come up to me and mentioned this about you", throws the whole section under the bus if not up to the supervisor's standards, butts in mid sentence to talk about her experience etc - HR is condescending at times. Replies emails in a way that makes you feel like you're a big bother to them when asked about leaves or pay (and has not replied my email regarding my leave balance for two months now, even after a follow-up prompt) - In house meals not consistent with taste - Minimal pay for emotionally and mentally taxing role ie difficult residents, difficult boss - Career advancement NADA. Senior role more recognition, otherwise you're just a small fry. - No support for education; company will not support your studies even if it aligns with social work.
