Pros

The only pros I can think of are the free food and the chance of getting skills to find a better opportunity for yourself at another company.

Cons

In the beginning, this company had a lot of potentials. However, the true colors of the company are prevalent the longer you work there. There is a huge lack of interpersonal skills, horrible communication skills, higher management gossip about each other teams, no career growth, passive-aggressive behavior is evident and performed daily, and a HUGE LACK OF LEADERSHIP. Managers use their teams to make themselves look good rather than validating and giving their team members the chance to grow and learn within the company. A couple of teams within the company are ignored and left out daily. This can take a toll on a group of talented individuals who deserve better. No wonder this company has such a HUGE turnover rate. A lot of teams wanting to shadow other teams for a chance to learn new skills, get rejected due to managers being incompetent. We are people, not machines! There is no danger in taking 5 to 10 minutes to watch someone explain what their tasks are. There is a HUGE disconnect between teams that make it hard for anyone on site to be able to understand certain problems. It is expected that anyone from any team should know the things someone else knows. Responsibilities are a MESS. Certain tasks are pushed down on you that is not a part of your job description and you get gaslighted if you show any ounce of resistance. Not only are responsibilites a mess, but there is a lot of micromanagement. Managers have the audacity to ask for help on certain projects, but then make a 180 turn wanting to control every aspect of what you are assigned and treat you with disrespect. It is appalling to see the lack of work appreciation and respect between and within the teams. Do yourself a favor and look for another company to start working in biotech. Only consider working here for a short period or in times of desperation.

Pros

This is a very exciting mission to be a part of, and 2025 was definitely a year that saw some great developments for this company's reputation and growth. This is a company where most every role will allow you to grow and contribute immensely. Almost everybody seems to become an expert in something that makes them a respected and important part of the team. I have felt very advocated for by my managers and team, since the beginning of the hiring process. They very much want to see me succeed I feel. The office's amenities are quite nice for being a small company, and there's still fairly good flexibility for hybrid work on most teams.

Cons

It's a 24/7 operation, so I and many others will have to think about work even on off days. It's not a strict expectation, but responding to emails or checking messages will often happen outside of the typical 9-5. That all said, I have not felt like my own work/life balance is miserable (I cannot say the same for everyone, though). It takes quite a while to hit a stride of really knowing the ins and outs here. So much knowledge on how to do things is just in peoples' heads, and the experts are frequently too busy to really sit down and walk you through it as you onboard. Learning can take quite a while, and may be overwhelming at first. There are some people who have clearly taken on or been assigned too much responsibility for one person to reasonably maintain, which just doesn't feel fair to them. And it puts pressure on those folks to never really take true time off.
