Pros

The company offers a competitive salary, which is definitely a plus. I've had the chance to speak with people from other projects and teams, and many of them seem to have a much healthier and well-managed environment. The CEO and upper leadership come across as thoughtful and focused on long-term goals, which is encouraging.

Cons

I've been with the Klocwork team at Perforce for quite some time, but recent project management changes have made the environment increasingly difficult for everyone. Overtime has started to become normalized, and we're overloaded with daily meetings. To make things worse, we are required to submit EOD updates in written form and then repeat the exact same points again in the next morning's DSM meetings. Failing to do so results in managers yelling or calling people out publicly. The level of micromanagement is exhausting and demotivating. The Pune team has it even worse. They are consistently overlooked—for example, they aren't even considered for release parties. These events are planned exclusively for WFH employees without any input from the Pune office, which is both disrespectful and demoralizing. Overall, it's becoming harder to stay motivated in this environment, and it's time I start exploring new opportunities.

Thank you for leaving this post. I will follow up with our Klockwork team to determine necessary changes. Our leaders definitely do not want to create environments where employees feel micro managed, overworked and not recognized. We regularly call out the great work done by teams around the company with our Perforce Hero segment in our All Hands meetings or our Customer Champion Awards. If you are willing to have a call with me, I would love a chance to speak to you in detail on making the environment better. Reach out to me on email. ~Jim Cassens, CEO

Thanks for the message and I'm glad to hear you are enjoying the culture here at Perforce. With the latest acquisition, we crossed another plateau in growth and our processes need to evolve to support a larger organization. We are also updating a number of processes with AI. Pros

I used to call this the best job I ever had, because I was well paid (for my title) and I felt like I was trusted to try new things for the first year or two. Unlimited time off is nice, but necessary for managing the constant stress. I wish I'd used a lot more of it. Free snacks are great and company outings can be nice. They keep acquiring companies, so working for such a big company can be a nice resume booster.

Cons

Roles are poorly defined and the organization "runs lean," which means responsibilities keep growing until you're really underpaid for the work you do. Same for your coworkers. Instead of clear responsibilities, everyone kind of does everything until everything’s done. The amount of work ranges from 'a full plate' to just crushing. Bullies and bad actors thrive because they're encouraged to squeeze the people below them for more and more work. Some managers would be happiest with a small army of AI robots to do their bidding instead of people with goals and ideas. The disrespect ranges from the professional to the personal, but it's all ignored at the leadership level. Promotions are rare and raises do not keep pace with inflation. Department leadership is constantly reacting to the fancies of their bosses, rather than standing up for their teams, so people at the middle and bottom always have to scramble to keep up with unreasonable expectations.

I'm glad you were able to enjoy the culture at our Minneapolis location. It is truly a fun environment with team and company outings, happy hour on Thursday's, social activities, a fun area with ping pong, video games, a golf simulator and much, much more. And you can't forget about the free snacks and community lunch provided to the entire location on Wednesdays. We work hard to make sure we offer competitive pay and benefits. We have promoted over 150 employees this year as the business continues to grow both through exciting acquisitions and organically. We have engaged in additional training for leaders at all levels to ensure we are engaging employees at every role and addressing any concerns that they have. I would love to have an opportunity to speak with you on a personal level to help understand where you feel we could improve. Thanks for leaving the post, ~Jim Cassens, CEO
