Pros

People lower down the chain of management are nice, fun and understanding that you're in the same awful situation they're in.

Cons

- Employees, both former and current, have told management that the current need for multiple new features every "Third" of the year is not sustainable. This however does not matter to the CEO or the leads. As an example, multiple software development managers handed in their resignations in under a year because the need for change was so desperate but management didn't want to hear it, so they resigned. -The scope and specification of new features is updated on the whim of the CEO or the Product team. There is no clear direction and developers fumble in the dark to cobble together something in a disjointed, old, awfully optimised system that passes the unset expectations of Product or the CEO. Bonuses are tied to this way of doing things so you will find corners cut and shoddy code implemented just to make people happy, readability and usability be damned. -As others have also said, there is no training for this role offered. It is a complicated mess of a system that uses a smorgasboard of technologies the development leads read about and have decided to implement. -Leads are quite happy to say all sorts of awful things about people who previously worked at PP. If you work here and then leave, you can expect management to make fun of you and use you as an example to try and get compliance from current staff. -You will not learn anything new or exciting while here. You will learn the weird quirks and oddities that this system has because there are so many that only the leads know about, meaning you are constantly fumbling to fix issues without all the information you need or would even be able to find. You will not feel like you are learning anything or progressing in any way towards your career.

Pros

You’ll make long lasting friends as there is trauma bonding

Cons

Unfortunately, my experience working at this company was overwhelmingly negative. From the beginning, it was clear that the management was disorganised and unsupportive. I often felt undervalued, with unrealistic targets being set and no proper training or guidance provided to help meet them. Despite being repeatedly told we were part of a “family business,” this couldn’t be further from the truth. The reality is that if they don’t like you, they’ll find a reason to get rid of you regardless of your performance or dedication. The only thing that made the experience bearable was the support and friendship of my colleagues. We were all in the same boat, and that sense of solidarity helped us through. However, as more and more of them started to leave many due to burnout, mental health struggles or micro management so it became harder and harder to stay. False promises from management were frequent, and the staff turnover was appalling. In the past two to three years alone, around 50 members of staff have left. Most don’t stay long once they begin to see the impact the environment has on their wellbeing. If you’re considering a role here, I would strongly advise you to think twice. For the sake of your mental health and overall wellbeing, it simply isn’t worth it.

Pros

Trauma bonding - you’ll make friends for life over a shared terrible working experience

Cons

The CEO Yvonne is very unhappy lady, and she really projects her feelings onto her staff. I lost count of the times she sent people to tears. The most toxic workplace. For a fairly small company, about 14 people left during my short period at perfect portal, it’s no surprise why. The micromanagement is crazy. If you value your mental health and general wellbeing I would highly advise you steer clear. Also if they promise you hybrid working or any kind of bonus structure, they will not keep to these false promises. Stay away!
