Pros

Lots of the work is hands on. You set your own schedule. Informal environment. Everyone is friendly. Management has open door policy.

Cons

Deadlines can be stressful because some people do not coordinate. I feel like some of the senior staff know the buzzwords but do not have a deep understanding of projects. High turnover and sometimes low morale. I also feel that the new younger hires sometimes get taken advantage of. My advice is don't join this company unless you have a few years experience and know what to expect from an employer.

Pros

Do you want to work at a place with great people? Do you want to work at a place where you can feel supported in reaching your goals, personal or career? Do you want to build something new and work on hard questions? Do you want to be justly compensated for the work you put into the company? Do you want to be appreciated as a valuable member of the team? These are all things that I have had for the last ~8 years. I came to Perceptronics from a large, institutionalized development firm and have grown with the company taking on various roles from development to management. The company has quadrupled in size since I started and there is lots of opportunity to grow and take on new roles and positions for those willing to do so.

Cons

Do you want to slack off and not meet deadlines? Do you want to work in an institution insulated from the vagaries of the business and be just another cog in the machine and silo'd into a single role? Do you want to take breaks and play games at a fooz ball table while you do? Do you want a custom chef that will cater to your every dietary whim? Perceptronics has none of these things.
