Pros

- good colleagues, smart and nice and hard workers. - paid healthcare - nice offices with your own space and privacy, no cubicles. - you have independence. usually no one hounding you. teams are small and you trust each other. - free soda and coffee.

Cons

- no opportunity for career advancement. - people work alone, no collaboration. no socializing - a lot of times it feels like the company isn't looking forwards, just reusing things its produced in the past - low moral. you couldn't go through a week without hearing "oh, that's why so-and-so resigned", or placing blame on a former employee. - on the above point, a lot of times its management that's spreading the bad vibe by blaming former employees - Any verbal promises you get, ask for them in writing before you sign on. - management is disorganized

Pros

Do you want to work at a place with great people? Do you want to work at a place where you can feel supported in reaching your goals, personal or career? Do you want to build something new and work on hard questions? Do you want to be justly compensated for the work you put into the company? Do you want to be appreciated as a valuable member of the team? These are all things that I have had for the last ~8 years. I came to Perceptronics from a large, institutionalized development firm and have grown with the company taking on various roles from development to management. The company has quadrupled in size since I started and there is lots of opportunity to grow and take on new roles and positions for those willing to do so.

Cons

Do you want to slack off and not meet deadlines? Do you want to work in an institution insulated from the vagaries of the business and be just another cog in the machine and silo'd into a single role? Do you want to take breaks and play games at a fooz ball table while you do? Do you want a custom chef that will cater to your every dietary whim? Perceptronics has none of these things.
