Pros

PSHR has a wide variety of patients, so as a CNA you get to learn a lot and get experience with patients from pediatric to geriatric ages.

Cons

The hospital was often understaffed and made CNAs take on more patients that was safe. When I was hired for the hospital we only had 6 patients , however once I worked for a while the patient load increased up to 8-12 patients depending on staff. They also expect you to lift huge patients without lifting equipment. Nursing staff was told by therapy that patients were able to assist with transfers, however when actually helping the patients, it was frequently total assist of 2-3 people.

Pros

Mission-focused Some patients and employees are nice Good benefits

Cons

Crowded and Busy. In the cancer institute the lines for check-in went out the door and it seems like everyone forgets their manners in that place. Very little pay for dealing with so many angry patients
