Pros
-Meet new people. Lots of students also apply to work there and during your shifts, you get to talk and become friends with many of them -Extremely considerate of class times thus flexible hours -Fairly easy work overall provided you are able-bodied (things like buffet server, cleaning up tables, deli area...). Typical restaurant stuff. -I personally found it pretty easy to get promoted and the pay increases while small and gradual, were nice
Cons
-Some places were short-staffed. This is not entirely a management problem but simply the fact that some commons simply had more people. And during your application, you can choose where you work
