Pros
I'm fortunate to work in a sub-division and department that's supportive of me and others. Work with great people and on great books. Pay is slightly higher than other similar publishers but generally still very low compared to similar roles in creative industries.
Cons
The wider Penguin Random House UK board and particularly the UK CEO seem uninterested in discussing/improving diversity and inclusion, they often mention there's a problem without making staff engaged in meaningful work they can implement such as targets on acquiring books by writers from underrepresented backgrounds - it's often left to the commissioning editors from similar backgrounds to acquire these books. There also needs to be wider discussions across all divisions that involves all staff.
