Pros
Benefits; culture; personal fulfillment working with books and contributing to a literate populace; good people, talented and cooperative; commitment to DEI though the employment numbers do not yet reflect that commitment, mgmt is transparent in those numbers & their plans for growth; management transparency; almost seamless transition to remote work, and continued commitment to provide the tools & support needed to succeed in the new landscape; all proven out by the longevity of careers with PRH, and those who leave for other experiences & return
Cons
No one turns to publishing for the salary, though PRH is competitive within the industry. As anywhere, daily challenges and urgent projects require an effort to maintain "work/life" balance. The company provides programs (meditation, open discussions, courses) to foster balance. Depending on the department, culture enforces that vacation days are used & work is manageable within work hours.
