My experience at Pen Test Partners was very disappointing. There was a clear culture of favouritism and unequal treatment within the development team. The lead developer contributed very little technically, yet was consistently protected and supported by management. During my time there, I witnessed long periods — even while I was on holiday — where no real code or progress was made, yet this lack of contribution was ignored. Yet the development manager — who is also a partner — consistently covers up his lack of performance. When I raised legitimate concerns about this unfairness and poor performance, instead of being listened to, I was treated differently and made to feel targeted. The management environment felt toxic and defensive, with little accountability for those in senior roles. There is no real investment in employee development — no structured training, no career growth, and no salary progression. The company appears more focused on spending heavily on unnecessary events while making employees redundant. Overall, this was the worst place I’ve worked in terms of management integrity, fairness, and professional growth. I would strongly caution others to consider this before joining.
