Pros

There are remote positions available

Cons

Working at Patlytics was one of the most demoralizing professional experiences I’ve had. The CEO regularly berated employees, created a culture of fear, and frequently threatened to fire team members, often behind their backs, which created mistrust across the company. Many talented people were treated with disrespect or made to feel disposable, and turnover was high as a result Constructive feedback was rare; instead, public shaming or silent treatment was the norm. The environment made it nearly impossible to grow or feel secure in your role, no matter how hard you worked. Several employees, especially women, were subjected to verbal aggression or undermining behavior that felt personal, not just performance-related. There’s a reason the company is 99% male. While there are some great individuals at the company doing their best to stay positive, the leadership culture made it difficult for anyone to succeed long-term without sacrificing their mental and emotional health.

Pros

The learning curve here has been great and rewarding. I work alongside smart and driven colleagues at the intersection of IP law and AI—challenging, impactful work where you can feel the collective sense of purpose. We’re growing quickly, which means real opportunity to shape the company and advance. The culture is supportive and collaborative. The founders push us to reach our potential while caring about wellbeing—they’ve implemented ME days and encourage using benefits. Leadership listens, makes changes based on feedback, and maintains transparency about our direction including in the office and at our monthly all hands. You get real ownership without micromanagement, but with guidance and course-correction when needed. As a scaling Series A company, you’re helping build something in real time. Everyone, including leadership, is focused on continuous improvement.

Cons

This is startup life with all that entails, and we’re growing quickly. There are growing pains as we scale—high expectations and ambiguity as we build structure on the fly. Work-life balance can be challenging during periods where we are pushing to achieve revenue and product objectives. You need to be self-directed and comfortable with autonomy in a changing environment. If you prefer established processes and clear guardrails at every step, this isn’t the right fit. You should be excited about the mission and comfortable with change.
