Pros

Working with other professionals who are dedicated to helping high school students is the greatest thing about this job. Every student doesn't make it, but they work so hard to accomplish their goals.

Cons

Between Corporate and local administration, I will always find myself at the bottom of the heap because they will not listen to the staff, they will not help the staff, and they put their duties off on the staff increasing the already busy workload without accomadating pay.

Pros

They give you lots of free Pathways shirts. Students for the most part don't have their cell phones on them during their study time. You get a whole hour for lunch but you work year round and stay until 4 pm.

Cons

At Pathways, it's all about the data. If your students aren't making progress even though they are chronically absent or show up a couple hours late, it's your fault. Lots of meetings. Only their so-called small group instruction teachers and the SpEd teachers are actually doing any teaching. The so-called Independent Studies teachers, which are the bulk of the staff, are shuffling papers and are glorified case managers trying to coax more "units" out of their students. Their online curriculum is horrible. School year is year round. Teachers might get one week for summer break.
