4 major issues that I’d call out: 1. Lack of employee recognition: Employee performance means nothing here and you’ll never get a raise or promotion that meets your merit (unless you satisfy number 2 below). I have seen multiple people be given “above expectations” or “exceeds expectations” only for HR and management to force managers to adjust the rating to “meets expectations” to avoid giving employees the raise and promotion they deserve. HR attempts to disguise this by giving a few select top performers a $50 gift card every now and then but that is a sad attempt to distract us from what is deserved. 2. Horrible in/out-grouping: In-groups are rampant throughout the entire org and the most valued currency is if you were part of an org that was acquired (the acquired org’s leadership team now lead nearly every department). If you’re in the in-group, mistakes don’t matter, mediocre performance is overlooked and any criticism of low performance is ignored. New employees stand no chance to make a lasting impact and are subjected to orders of magnitude greater scrutiny. 3. 0 Innovation: Mismanagement of recent acquisitions has led to our tech (which was already playing catch-up to competitors) making 0 innovations if the past 18 months with few planned for this year. Our tech is now vastly inferior to the major competitors and our clients/prospects know this. 4. Investor Confidence Dropping: Multiple colleagues who have since left the business have found themselves unable to sell their shares in the business and fully separate themselves. The fact that the investors or the org itself aren’t willing to acquire the shares, a common practice in companies of our stage, raises numerous questions about the business and its investors confidence and outlook.
