Unempathetic Leadership and Abrupt Layoffs: Avoid Working at Paro - Anonymous Paro Employee Review

Pros

Honestly, looking back at Paro, there is not a single pro besides working with my team individually. I loved my team, but I did not love my manager. I won't use names, but you know who you are. My original leader and manager/director was eliminated right before me, and I loved her and will always stay loyal to her.

Cons

I would never suggest anyone work at Paro. Leadership only cares about themselves and shows no empathy for their employees. They do not sympathize with individual circumstances and only view their employees as money makers. The work environment is toxic, and the lack of direction from leadership is alarming. I was let go via phone call with no heads up. This news was delivered to me abruptly, despite my plans to represent Paro at an upcoming conference. There was no offer to use them as a reference, and I didn't even receive an apology for the circumstances. If you value respect, empathy, and a supportive workplace, avoid Paro at all costs. Additionally, I heard directly from people still working at Paro that they specifically feed really good leads to specific people to make it look like there are top performers. I also forgot to note that I was asked to help with inbound coverage for December, January, and February, yet not a single thank you was given.

Pros

Some great people worked there, only a few left. Remote work.

Cons

Unless you have worked at Groupon previously, you’ll never make it. The C-Suite would give you whiplash with priorities and ‘strategy’ shifting every other week which screamed desperation. Running out of money and they’re trying to offshore most positions to save the company. No financial leadership or controls over finance, so no surprise burning cash like crazy. Flying people in for meetings (internationally) every 6 weeks while we’re bleeding money. No investment in product/technology since there’s no money. There’s one guy running the product/platform and when he leaves there will be nothing left. Meeting heavy and they were all redundant. Culture was horrible. The ‘AI’ platform we sold to clients was a joke, it was archaic at best. Constant rumors about company running out of money for payroll.
