The people made it a great place to work. Loved everyone and they made the day great.

Cons

Lots of driving and little room for advancement due to structure of the industry - not a company problem

Pros

Lots of new equipment, updated ambulances, the pay is decent considering how much most EMT's get paid around the country. There are bonuses on certain days of the year. As of now, there are bonuses if you pick up a decent amount of OT....just can't pick up too much otherwise you get bumped into the next tax bracket and have a ton of taxes taken out of your check. If you're looking for experience, most full time employees are running 90-100 calls per month. Almost all of the crew members are friendly, accepting and fun to be around. Your fellow EMT's and paramedics are like a 2nd family. There are several people in middle management who are great as well.

Cons

You have to tip-toe around the feelings of certain people in management and dispatch. If you get on their bad side, they will make your experience at Paratech horrible. Management is also horrible at responding to crews needs in a timely manner. Even when many people have been complaining of the same thing for months, a change isn't usually seen until lots of people start to quit. A few people in management have said we're "replaceable" so they don't entirely care when people quit. If you can't pick up your mandatory OT hours, they take away your $1 per hour attendance bonus. By no fault of Paratech, their 911 zone in Milwaukee is very dangerous....crews have been shot at, threatened, and assaulted on numerous occasions. Unfortunately management doesn't always know the best method to handle serious situations that involved their crews being hurt.
