Pros

Pays better than some in the industry but not by much and not enough to cover the drawbacks

Cons

Management have no understanding of life at the coal face. If you don't fit their smiley happy perception, regardless of real issues you may be facing, you may as well get out. No interest in resolving long term efficiency problems or developing their people to not only be the best but also to better those around them. See other review - if you aren't happy find a new job??? That's not the attitude a leader of people needs to have! Definitely not equal opportunity. Staff surveys always showed staff had concerns with racism & sexism issues which were never addressed. This doesn't even begin to cover the statutory breaches that seem to be a matter of course.

Pros

- Free parking, if you get there before 8am in order to get a space. - Offices are a lot more modern than other housing associations. Meeting rooms well equipped for hybrid meetings. - Salaries are higher than equivalent roles in the sector. - Benefits package is good. Annual bonus is unusual for the sector. - If your face fits, you can access training and promotion opportunities.

Cons

- Bloated management structure. Assistant Directors and 'Head of' roles for tiny departments with about 3 members of staff. Just loads of overpaid supervisors. - Lots of senior managers have come from outside of the sector and lack understanding of housing. - No soul. Office is quiet, no social side, people don't even talk to each other at lunch. - A bit of a cult. Everything is fine as long as you say the right things. Express an opinion, and you'll very quickly become an outsider. - High turnover of staff, particularly because PHG relies on fixed-term contracts and doesn't give any job security. - Morale is terrible amongst frontline staff, but senior leaders are either oblivious, or don't want to address it. - Long hours with no opportunity for paid overtime.

Pros

Nice welcoming people, reasonable pay.

Cons

Very poor training process, lacklustre management, overly bureaucratic, resistance from other departments to assist. A company intent on growing the number of properties they own, but not in having sufficient staff to manage them.
