Pros
In addition to the base salary, there is a rent subsidy of up to about 70,000 yen if the family home is in a remote area. In addition, 120,000 yen worth of cafeteria points are awarded annually. Overtime varies from department to department; some departments work as little as 10 hours, while others work more than 50 hours.
Cons
As a traditional Japanese company, promotions are basically based on seniority, with lateral promotions to the position of main manager in one's thirties or so. Later, in their 40s or so, they are promoted to section manager, and in their 50s or so, to department manager.
