Pros
1. Remote flexibility
2. Team member(s)
3. Access to learn different recruiting styles
Cons
1. Leadership availability was inconsistent due to time zone misalignment, making it difficult to get timely support or guidance and was consistently met when meeting was requested or clarity needed, "I can't right now" or "I just sat down to eat".
2. Lack of structured onboarding and training on internal processes and services created unnecessary ramp-up challenges
3. Excessive micromanagement, with a heavy focus on activity metrics (e.g., call time) rather than outcomes and performance, being in a Director role, that should not be a focus, rather it should be on outcomes. For example, if our day is filled with 4 hours of Zoom or video call time with prospective clients or even interviews with candidates, our time on the phone should not remain the same as if the hours on the video calls did not count for anything.
4. Significant role instability, including team turnover and shifting responsibilities that limited the ability to focus on business development
5. Compensation structure lacked fairness, including no commission for backfill roles and unclear expectations tied to performance
6. Was told explicitly that we should be working 10-12 hours EVERY day.
