Pros

The relationships with your coworkers that you build here will be good but that’s only because you will all be experiencing so much bizarre, manic behavior by the owners that no one in the outside world will understand. You will learn a lot from each other because you need to fend for yourself as Elyse and Adam have little to no understanding of the industries they work. This will only be more and more clear after you’ve moved on and worked at several other companies.

Cons

There is no professional development. The owners believe they know everything there is to know. They have no desire to evolve and will not be able to grow the business because of it. It will be clear how little they know after you move on and realize their skills are elementary and in some cases, really bad practice. You may find at your next jobs that the skills you thought you developed are not satisfactory and you will have to relearn a lot. If you are taking this job as a stepping stone, look elsewhere immediately. The office is horribly dirty and unfinished and you are expected to clean it, even after Elyse and her children who visit during work hours eat and drop food all over the place. Elyse is the equivalent of a child and you will be forced to care for her. She fake cries a lot to get her way and complains about a new injury every day. They contact you outside of work hours, including the early morning, late at night, and weekends. Meanwhile the CEO is unreachable during work hours and often disappears for weeks on end. This may sound unbelievable but it’s true and irresponsible. She doesn’t care about the business and because of that, you won’t either. CEO and President don’t communicate on any key objectives and there’s a weird power battle between them at all times. In terms of PR and Marketing, their strategy or lack thereof is actually laughable and so elementary. Elyse is desperate for everyone’s approval and attempts to bond by telling everyone they look cute. All of the positive reviews are fake and painfully so. Elyse and Adam believe they are being sneaky but as always, are seen for what they truly are. The clients on the website are fake and the other offices don’t exist. You could make a higher salary at a Starbucks. They will tell you it’s industry standard as if Google and Glassdoor don’t exist. There are hardly any benefits, either. You will be promised many raises but they will never come. They only hire entry level employees and talk a big game about how much they will teach you while also belittling your experience. They have barely any media contacts. The press hits the employees get are great but will never be seen by clients because Elyse doesn’t communicate with them. You will not be granted client contact, either.

Cons

Being in PR - sometimes deadlines are tight - need to be efficient and work in timely manner.

Pros

-Minimal tasks or supervision so I was free to take breaks and time off for school when needed.

Cons

I was so excited to get an internship with this office but quickly learned I was mistaken. The client list on their website is nothing near the clients they actually have. I was hardly ever given work and had to work on the same busy-work projects for over a month, like compiling contact lists that were never even needed. The "CEO" was hardly ever in the office and never knew what the employees were working on. When there, business meetings were often cut off by personal calls or their kids wreaking havoc on the office. Often asked if I had completed tasks that were never discussed, let alone assigned. They didn't even know what specialization I had been hired for. When given work, there were no standards or any feedback given. The office is dirty and unfinished and I'd often get to work to find the office locked because they decided not to go in that day without alerting me.
