Pros

The job is excellent! You'll encounter diverse projects and industries if you wish, with ample chances to learn from seasoned industry leaders. The option for a hybrid-remote work setup is fantastic. If you're lucky enough to have supportive managers, the work-life balance is also exceptional. Nearly everyone I've met at POWER is content and takes pride in their work. Safety is a top priority and it is pushed throughout the entire organization.

Cons

The role involves consulting, leading to busy weeks at times and less hectic ones at others. Advancing within the organization takes a while and isn't a straightforward trajectory. Achieving the next title can be challenging. While the pay is good, it may not be the highest in the industry. Nevertheless, I've consistently received annual raises and access to bonus opportunities. In my view, the flexibility of a hybrid-remote work arrangement compensates for any differences in the pay scale.

Pros

Was a genuinely great place to work. Great people and great culture. It was worth the slightly-lower-than-average pay because work life balance and benefits were great. I enjoyed going to work every day.

Cons

Poor financial decisions from upper management regarding the shareholder program led to the company's demise. Upper management sold out to WSP. Management made millions while long time employees got zilch. As someone else had mentioned, retention bonuses were unfairly distributed. Most people didn't get any retention bonus even if they had been long time employees of the company. It really felt like everyone who wasn't upper management got stabbed in the back. They got their payout then dumped the company. Still stings to this day.
