Pros

The coffee machine is great. But you can buy one at home and save your life.

Cons

The 5 star review posted before is a clear example of the toxic environment at Playmind. This review was posted by the CEO, who is a shady and untrustable person. He is manipulative on a personal and professional level. His skills range from overtime compensations never paid to shady accounting manipulations with government money. The work environment there is a cliché of a really poorly managed start up company. You'll end up giving up your life for the studio, doing overtime, working day and night to get... nothing in return. And I'm not only talking about money or benefits. The CEO will never say thank you. He will somehow manage to criticize your work in a passive aggressive way. Your work will be undermined, even if you have more experience than him in video game development. He even made some employees cry. And they were tough ones, fully dedicated to the project they worked on. I could write a book about Playmind, but long story short, just don't go there. If you need money, work at Mc Donald and work on your portfolio on your spare time. You'll earn more and you'll keep your mental sanity.

Pros

My experience at Playmind has been a positive one. The team I was working with was a mix of stagiaires and experienced developers which created a cool dynamic. In fact, there was never a morning when I came into the job and didn't feel like it. Playmind remains to this day one of the places where I had the most fun working with other talented people. Is this a place to learn and grow? Yes, but like any small studio, mentoring in your field will be limited to the people you are working close to. More seasoned developers tend to leave for other companies, and the cycle repeats again, which is, in my opinion, as it should be. I am grateful to Playmind for the opportunity to work with great people on cool, small projects.

Cons

The average dev age seems to be a bit on the younger side and a lot of stagiaires are hired. This is both good and bad. It does bring in some energy into the company, but that energy is not focused and sometimes becomes latent due to a lack of leadership/mentorship by more senior developers.
