Pretty typical corporate tech, but less pay. - Customer Success Manager PLACE Employee Review

Pros

Great group of employees. Enjoyable atmosphere. They make sure you’re set up for success in your position, for the most part. Flexible (unlimited) PTO. Partial remote work is fine. Lots of snacks. Most of the higher ups are right in the Bellingham office, so it’s easy to knock on a door and have a conversation. Insurance benefits are pretty standard, nothing special. Stock options are seemingly good (great?), but they aren’t public yet with no solid timeframe to go public, so it’s just hypothetical money for the time being.

Cons

Pay does not match up to industry standards, which appears to be the case regardless of what job position you are in. It seems that generally, you will get paid 30% less than the national average salary for an equivalent position. No bonuses, unless you’re in sales. No 401k match. No raises. If you let it happen, they will overwork you. If you do “too good” of a job, you may be inhibiting your ability to move up in the company because “that would cause a big hole for the team”.

Pros

PLACE is full of kind, driven, hardworking, and growth-minded people. Ideas are shared freely, collaboration is a daily habit, and I can't think of a single person who isn't always happy to help at a moment's notice. No matter where they fall in the organizational structure, I can feel comfortable reaching out to anyone and know that I'll be met with a kind and friendly response. While all startups offer daily learning opportunities simply by nature of being startups, what makes PLACE unique is the purposeful striving for learning, teaching, and growing, both personally and professionally. I don't just learn new information or processes - I learn new ways of thinking, doing, and being that no other workplace has ever taught me, which is one of my favorite things about this company and what keeps me engaged and excited.

Cons

Tools and processes are often pushed out with little to no notice to employees, so we're left scrambling to learn and operationalize while at the same time our partners are getting excited and wanting us to teach them about it. The interviewing and hiring process takes weeks. I appreciate the in-depth screening that we do, and it seems to have a high success rate of finding the right fit, but the lengthy process can be a turnoff to candidates. Bottlenecks occur regularly - even something like a promotion or pay raise has to be approved at the very top, which can take a very long time. Leaders are busy and seem to be spread very thin.
