I have been here for close to two years now. I'm amazed at how progressive PIMCO is in comparison to other firms out there. There is a major emphasis on volunteering and helping the community. It is a part of the company culture to get together and spend hours volunteering. Some of the most meaningful experiences I have had in my life are a result of these volunteer experiences. You are expected to work hard and you are recognized and rewarded for that work. If you don't think that is the case, you can discuss that freely with leadership. You can not do this at a lot of companies.
