Pros

- you work in an organisation where everybody shares some of your values - King's Cross office location - dogs in the office

Cons

- there is no HR function to speak of, other than high turnover and endless recruitment - you're made to watch videos of animal cruelty as your induction but not to undertake any structured training - office is weirdly quiet - hostile atmosphere with cliques and aloof management who you never speak to - you are not trusted to work from home regardless of your role - management snoops into your life and brings your personal life into the office

Thank you for sharing your thoughts about your time at PETA UK. We are sorry that you had such a negative experience and although we appreciate your feedback, we genuinely don’t recognise the workplace you have described. Our expectations are high and we understand that not everyone is cut out to work here which is why we sometimes lose staff, most commonly during their probationary period. Our HR team have admittedly been doing lots of recruitment over the last year but happily this is mainly due to our expansion. We work hard to be a good employer. Our staff, including managers, receive regular training and development opportunities and we take their wellbeing seriously. As an organisation dedicated to protecting animals, we ensure all staff are regularly updated and involved in our campaigns to bring about real change. We are sorry things didn't work out and thank you for what you helped us achieve for animals. All the best.

Pros

Coworkers are hard working, intelligent, dedicated animal advocates. I truly believed everyone was trying their best for to save the animals from horrific abuse. It was nice to be among people who understood what animals are put through and who were giving their all to help them.

Cons

Challenging work environment with no concern for work/life balance. Low pay for emotionally difficult work. It felt very hierarchical. A lot of questionable practices, such as requiring employees to watch graphic abuse imagery as part of onboarding and begging employees for monthly donations to deduct from their salaries. Some campaign strategies felt unrealistic or lacking in evidence, so it could feel like we were wasting time and resources on projects that were not likely to have much pay off for the animals.
