Pros

-good pay - has alot of trainings for teachers to gain knowledge - company trips, dinners and fun activities planned for teachers - bonuses 3 times a year -increments - good colleagues - near home

Cons

While the pros are really good, unfortunately the cons can get really bad and outweigh the good -too much projects for teachers to do apart from teaching and conducting lessons - always have meetings during naptime, causing us to have little time to do paperwork hence got to bring home work -no proper rotation for 1 hr break. When ask to go for 1 hr break those senior and boomer teachers will say “i also dont have my 1 hr break. Just eat 15 mins and work again” - focus too much on paperwork, and projects that teachers feel burnout. Im not able to focus on my main job which is TEACHING due to the high paperwork - have so much enrolment but little space. One class originally meant for 20 kids is now split into two with shelves as partition to make way for 2 K1 classes. Increased noise pollution, and no proper space for kids and teachers. - favouritism (very obvious) - overall just tiring and increased feelings of burn out

Overall, these issues have contributed to low morale, reduced trust in leadership, and challenges in staff retention.

Bonuses 3x a year Stable job Multiple locations (very close to home) Tons of training available (online/f2f) Many opportunities for projects exposure

Cons

No work life balance Lots of additional and unnecessary paperwork even though lesson plans are provided (e.g. WAP, ELCP) Alot of unwritten rules to follow even though lesson plans state otherwise - No worksheets printing (but all the lesson plans include worksheets) - No printing (but all resources provided are required to be printed) - Lesson plans does not match age appropriateness (tracing and writing letter at N1 level, but the unwritten rule is children are not supposed to use pencil to write?) Learning environment has high expections, requiring all teacher-made work Classes have multiple SEN children without appropriate support (RO always say within ratio) Proposals for each and every event, requiring multiple revisions before approval Workload of teachers are not equal, some are required to do more than others while the others get to slack off without accountability even aftet feedback Non-contact time/break time are practically non existent (expected to stay in classroom even during breaktime) Often understaffed and have to stay in class to cover staff during break time due to meetings almost every other day. Rostering is not fair, said to be 2 week rotations but closing shift can be extended to more than a month. Racial favouritism, did not believe it at first but prominent after one year in.
