Small Business run by the product owner with a massive turn around with major clients. End of year Christmas party.

Cons

Lower Salary paid to the employees, No policy and procedures, No career growth, Managers is there for namesake.

Pros

Regular "strategy planning" sessions where the plan has been preprepared, you aren't there to contribute, you are there to applaud the founder's genius. There is a free lunch, pizza and time away from chasing dreams, so that can be a good thing.

Cons

Founder does not let the truth get in the way of a good story. He will use his own special access to demo to prospects, he will even prepare ghostware screens and functions to match requirements, but the system will not do what he demonstrates. No one else knows what is happening either. He has his own developer that sits outside the business to develop things for him. Again, you will only here about it at some grandios unveiling. The development won't integrate, won't work, and won't solve a problem, but at least it looks good. This job will destroy your will to fight. He collects broken people and assigns them roles they know nothing about; he weeds out the competent, believing they make him look bad. Those close to him in the business have resigned themselves to being yes people; they are just as toxic, and the leadership team plays a cat-and-mouse game of hide-the-dagger. I wish I were joking, but I am not. There is a long list of casualties along the way. People were discarded, ruined, mentally abused, and gaslit all the way to the Dr Unfortunately, this facade goes all the way to entering obscure or inaugural participation awards, industry recognition and winning, justifying and strengthening the position.

Pros

The operational, non-management staff are generally okay.

Cons

Management lead with the stick rather than the carrot. Disorganised with weekly changes in strategy, leaving workers in a state of high stress and flux. Pay is below market rate with no yearly reviews or increases to pay. Little to no progression opportunities as the org structure is very flat. If you look closely, you might notice a suspicious trend of perfunctory 5 star counter-reviews at the request (demand) of executive leadership.
