Pros

This is a great cause and you really do feel like you are making a difference at times. The hours are not bad and volunteered overtime is only required during certain times of the year. In some positions, there are opportunities to make great connections in the community and attend interesting events. Coworkers are some of the most selfless people I've ever worked with -- they make the organization succeed.

Cons

If you're looking to move up in your career, this is not the place to try to do it. This organization is about as flat as they come. The executive director oversees every small detail of the organization, which often makes it difficult to move things forward or even schedule a meeting. Technology is not fully utilized, making systems very outdated and slow. Expectations are not properly communicated, which can result in a lot of frustration and extra work. Innovation is touted yet new ideas are not heard or appreciated. Because of these things, employee morale is quite low.

Pros

It's a great cause and a once-wonderful organization

Cons

Lack of respect from management; new executive director is very "corporate" and cares little about what those in the trenches know/think/hear from the families PACER helps. Salaries are (too) high at the top but those who work to help families struggle on the low salaries that subsidize management salaries and perks.
