Pros

If anything they said were true, then perhaps it would be an ideal place to work. However, just about everything seems to be a lie.

Cons

I applied twice, both directly through their website; the first time I was linked by a friend who currently works with them, the second was after I got an automated private message through LinkedIn. I made sure each time to apply via their website. After I submitted, I decided to investigate their website, and discovered that it was possible to sign up for their remote tasking app even without "officially" being an employee. In hindsight, this should have been a red flag, and I am now carefully monitoring my credit score as I am afraid this company may be a complete scam. Within a few hours of my application, got a boilerplate (and, I believe, AI generated) email saying I'd been accepted to the position within only a few hours of submitting my application. They said that I would get a bonus contingent upon completing an "Enablement Program," and that I had to click a link in order to set up my account. However, using the link caused an error message, likely because I had *already* completed the verification process before I was officially offered the job (which shouldn't have been possible and gave me grave concerns about their cybersecurity!) The email said that if one had problems, one should contact them on Slack. Their Slack channel does not allow me to interact with it in any way. It then said that I should attend a Zoom meeting that Tuesday. No representatives from the company ever showed up to the meeting, despite 60 (!) "new hires" being in the meeting. Finally, I attempted to contact support, and got only another AI generated response that did not actually address the problem I was having. I'm writing as a "current employee" because they still have my legal information and I can still access the website portal, even if there's nothing in it. There doesn't seem to be any way to "quit" this job (eg, remove my credentials & information from their server). Every time I have tried to contact them, I have, at best, gotten an AI generated response, and mostly no response at all; I am left wondering just how big their actual team is, and if most of this company is run solely by generative AI. There is no way to contact a human being whatsoever. Stay away from this company. I suspect they are merely data-scraping resumes, cover letters, and stealing personal information.

Pros

The short time that I had consistent work was very good. Never had a problem with pay. Paid fairly for work. Plus, I really enjoyed learning all the different tasks. With the "Cons" issues made clear upfront, I would recommend this platform to a friend.

Cons

Applied as a specialist. Only offered generalist work. And haven't had any new projects for a while. The projects I was invited to earlier this year were poorly designed and involved long onboarding processes. They were all iterations of the same poorly-designed project. Since then, nothing. It's frustrating to see job listings from them in my field of expertise and not be able to apply to them. And yes, I've kept my resume and LI updated. It doesn't seem to matter. Also, comparing the community chat platform, monitoring, and ease of use to other (similar) platforms I work with, Outlier's is the worst one. I've found that there are far more people who use Reddit to get their project questions answered and to try to find out what is happening than use and actually get answers from Outlier's own discussion platform.
