Pros

Good time off, PTO allowence, every other Friday off

Cons

The vibe is that you shouldn't actually use your time off, especially sick time. I assume that's not the policy, since it's illegal under the ADA. But unofficially, your sick time taken will be scrutinized and taken into account for your reviews, even if it's allowed sick time. Every other Friday off is great, if you are allowed to take it. Most people can't.

Thank you for taking the time to share your perspective. We want to clarify that Osborn offers a generous sick leave policy in addition to company-paid Short-Term Disability benefits for employees experiencing serious medical conditions or extended time away from work. Our goal is to ensure employees can focus on their health and recovery without the added stress of financial hardship. As with any company leave program, sick time usage is monitored for consistency, fairness, and operational planning, particularly because it is provided in addition to vacation time and other flexible scheduling options. However, we do not discourage employees from appropriately using earned sick time for legitimate medical needs, surgeries, parental leave, or other qualifying health-related events. In fact, many of our employees successfully utilize flexible work arrangements including hybrid schedules, flexed hours, and our 9/80 schedule to help balance personal and professional responsibilities. We also want to be clear that our policies and practices are fully compliant with applicable employment laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Employees who believe they may need additional support or accommodations due to a medical condition or disability are encouraged to contact Human Resources to engage in the interactive process and discuss reasonable accommodation options. HR is always available as a resource to support employees and help navigate these conversations confidentially and appropriately. While individual experiences and workloads may vary depending on project demands and team responsibilities, we continuously evaluate employee feedback and operational needs to support flexibility, work-life balance, and a positive workplace culture. If you have additional questions or concerns, please feel free to contact HR.

Pros

PTO 9/80 schedule Nice office Friendly staff for the most part

Cons

If you work downtown you have to pay for parking, with cost of living rising, this extra deduction matters and isn’t great. Upper management can be condescending. Micromanagement. Can have dehumanizing ways of disciplinary actions. Not very diverse in terms of people. Burn out. Underpaid for the amount of work. Development opportunities aren’t taken serious and often forgot about.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We understand that parking costs in a downtown environment can be frustrating, especially with rising living expenses. Like many businesses located in major downtown areas, paid parking is a common challenge. While we are unable to fully eliminate those costs, we do offer pre-tax Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options that can help reduce the financial impact, and we continually work to negotiate improved parking rates and options with nearby garages for our employees. We are also sorry to hear that your experience with leadership, communication, and development opportunities did not meet expectations. At Osborn, we believe professional growth and career path discussions are important and should be ongoing conversations between employees and their supervisors — not limited to formal review periods alone. In addition to regular check-ins, we conduct formal performance discussions at minimum twice per year to help support feedback, development, and goal setting. We recognize that employee experiences can vary, and we are continuously working to strengthen our culture, leadership development, employee engagement, and overall workplace experience. We encourage employees to reach out to Human Resources at any time with questions, concerns, requests for support in discussions with supervisors, or recommendations related to benefits, parking options, and workplace improvements. Constructive feedback helps us continue to grow and improve as an organization. Please feel free to stop by the HR department to discuss your issues further.
