Pros

Some of the people are really cool, and great to be around daily. The dress code is pretty relaxed. Flexible hours.

Cons

When I first started I loved it here, but very soon I realized that on my first days there I drank the Kool aid, and it was in fact a terrible place to work. Their motto is “simplicity” but nothing seems to be simple, actually every day that passes things seem to get more and more complicated. You are allowed ZERO overtime, but when you do the math of how long each task takes, and how many of those tasks you complete in a day it equals more than 8 hours every time. On top of the no overtime with more than 8 hours of work, that work is expected to be perfect. I may be crazy, but that math does not add up. People keep on quitting, but we don’t replace them, their work just gets put on someone else who is then expected to get everything done perfectly in 8 hours. Every little thing that is missed you have meetings to have a manager let you know you did something wrong, but nothing ever offering assistance or ideas on how to not miss these things. When I asked to be trained in different areas that I thought would help me with my day to day tasks, I was told “no it’s not your job to make sure that is correct”, so I would wait a couple weeks and ask again, to only be told the same thing. Eventually I gave up and just accepted I was never going to understand part of this company, that directly effected my work. On top of all of this Orlans executive team prides themselves on the fact that they were top 100 work places in 2017. Myself, and many other people have a hard time believing this. They treat every employee as if they are replaceable, but expect them to be loyal and committed to the company. The pay is laughable, and raises and bonuses don’t ever happen, while they are flying multiple people back and forth from our different locations... could probably save some money if they were paying for less plane tickets and less hotel rooms and used their “smart board” rooms and video Skype more. Even if you are always working hard and willing to help out in any way possible it always seems like it’s never worth it, so going above and beyond for this company is not worth your time, based on the fact that you will not be recognized for it with your pay, or even with “thank you” or “good job!”. The computers/systems rarely have a week where everything works properly (which I’ve talked to many friends who do not have this problem with other companies), but we are told we have put a ton of money into our IT department to help with this. Yet, when you contact IT for any reason you hope that you get 1 or 2 of the people that know what they are talking about. While I said a pro was that SOME of the people are really cool to work with, and I made a few friends. MOST of the people that work their are idiots, and while I always had to have meetings to talk about mistakes I have made (even being written up a couple times), the dumb people would go to those meetings and return to their desks and forget that they even made a mistake, never ever getting written up for it or ever having to face any consequences, and the smart hard working people are expected to pick up the slack. Orlans also likes to pride themselves on how “transparent” the company is, my time there proved that to a a lie. Everything seems to always be a secret even if it directly affects you and your job. What really pushed me over the edge is people coming and changing my process, without talking to me about it or even letting me know. I do not mind change, but when someone who has no idea what your job is comes in and changes it, then doesn’t even tell you, and then gets upset that you didn’t know. It gets a little more than frustrating. I would NEVER recommend Orlans, and will continue to urge my couple of friends that still work there to find new jobs.

Pros

They have adequate flexibility and most positions you can work from home.

Cons

Too much PTO time — no one is ever working, especially Management. The pay rate and health benefits are horrible. HR is clueless and knows absolutely nothing and is useless. Monthly meetings are meaningless and repetitive. Orlans’ motto is “Someone will catch it (if it’s wrong).” There is no room for growth or development.
