Pros

Overall, knowing the work I do made an impact on the lives of underserved communities is wonderful. We have a FUN committee that will host social events for staff to take a break from work and spend time together. I enjoy working with my department team and supervisor because of their empathy, collaboration, welcoming-nature, and dedication. The diversity of cultures is really rich here. Although I wear multiple hats and have tasks to do every hour, I do have work life balance in my role as work doesn't follow me home.

Cons

No two weeks look the same so it requires me to be high functioning, flexible and adaptable. It's a non profit so job security and advancement is limited based on funding availability and salary can be low. Retention rate is low so there are always staff changes and organizational restructuring every 1-2 months, which makes it harder to have structure/policies in place. Programs can be siloed because we are so focused helping our designated clients. It's been an ongoing process to improve collaboration between programs with referrals.

Pros

Staff are some of the most hard working people and welcoming people I’ve ever met

Cons

Management is absolutely terrible. Low employee retention shows it.
