Pros

Great work-life balance if you're looking for a part-time remote job. Can often work ahead to get ahead of the game. Staff are very friendly and extremely supportive! I cannot say enough how supportive and understanding they are! It's a wonderful team effort.

Cons

Sometimes, there are added obligations that need to fit into your weekly hours.

Pros

OpenEd is the perfect place for flexible employment, whether you're trying to balance another part-time job or family obligations. A teacher role allows you to make your own schedule, yet still allows for interaction with students to help you stay active in your chosen field, and find fulfillment with helping students learn. It's been amazing to see how I can still engage with other teachers and students daily, even though it's in an online environment. There are always plenty of opportunities to work as many hours as you're able to. I enjoy being part of a company where families and students come first. We're here to provide supportive programs for homeschooling families, and I love the variety of ways we can do that through classes, events, clubs, learning logs, and more. The company values have helped me to grow both personally and professionally. I appreciate the humor and support in this remote environment and the way it helps me feel like I'm still going to work every day with co-workers I look forward to interacting with, even though it's from a screen.

Cons

OpenEd has experienced huge growth in the past year. This is both exciting and sometimes exhausting. It can be hard to keep up with all of the changes, and sometimes I don't feel secure in knowing what might come next. It's usually good changes, but staff movements can still be challenging to navigate, and sometimes it feels like the company is growing too fast, with a bit of whiplash for employees. I do wish that starting pay for teachers could be more competitive with some of the other roles created over the past year. As teachers are key players in this program, their pay could be equal to that of other staff roles.
