Pros

High concentration of some of the best minds in storage, and Media & Entertainment. Every employee has a voice, and is encouraged to take ownership of issues, and improving processes and tools. Team cares about the verticals they serve, has high degree of domain expertise and are passionate about the product they have built, but have no ego when there is room for improvement. High degree of transparency (flat org) and opportunities to learn about and add value in the cultivation of a rapidly expanding business. Flexible Vacation policy, Strong gaming culture. Vendor for many of the biggest staple names in Hollywood, and across Media and Entertainment. If your passion aligns with making the making of movies and videos at scale easier, there might not be a better place to work right now. Team atmosphere kind of feels like The West Wing, but you know- making enterprise storage.

Cons

Requires self-starters, low ego, good communication skills. Ramp is a little steep, tech stack is fairly deep, and the business moves incredibly fast. You will be exposed to the behind the scenes processes and minutia of film and television workflows, for some, that ruins the magic, for others it adds a whole new appreciation. The standing assumption is that a job working in enterprise storage wont net you any cool stories to tell at parties. You will enjoy discovering first-hand that assumption wrong. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Pros

The only pro about this company is that they offer a competitive salary and the benefits are amazing

Cons

My experience at OpenDrives was deeply negative, driven almost entirely by toxic leadership. The company is struggling to generate the revenue it needs, and senior leadership lacks the ability or discipline to make clear, informed decisions to turn things around. Instead of a coherent strategy, priorities shift every few weeks, creating constant churn and confusion across the organization. Sales leadership relies on pressure, browbeating, and public reprimands rather than coaching or accountability. Yelling on Zoom calls and talking down to employees is common. Several individuals in executive and senior leadership roles lack the judgment, emotional intelligence, and competence required for the C-suite, and it shows in both culture and execution. I’ve worked with many companies over my career, and this was by far the most incompetent and unstable leadership team I’ve encountered.
