Cons
Pay- It’s quite bad for a HCOL area, and the benefits actually got worse over time. Be prepared to fight for a small yearly raise that doesn’t cover the cost of living increase and is delayed for months with no explanation, and no backpay for the missing months. I felt I was being taken advantage of when people with the exact same job title and daily responsibilities as me were making far more money than I was.
Growth- Promotions seem to happen at a whim, without much of a correlation to performance reviews. There’s never any clearly defined path for growth.
Transparency- Changing company policies are not adequately explained. I saw some people let go because they moved away from the NYC area, but others did the same thing and were allowed to work fully remote. It’s really unclear why people are held to different standards.
Culture- I didn’t find the environment to be very friendly or welcoming, which was jarring as a young person. (To their credit, I think they were taking steps to improve the culture, but I’m not sure how effective that was.) Management doesn’t seem to be interested in honest feedback, as employees' concerns were never meaningfully addressed. I overall found this to be a demoralizing place to work.
