Pros

Fun, close-knit team. Lots of emphasis on employee engagement with a frequent array of team activities and events. Reasonable and thoughtful peers and management. Flexible hours and schedule - performance is measured by deliverables and value output rather than amount of time spent visibly working. Pay is competitive. Great opportunity for junior employees looking to broaden their scope of responsibilities.

Cons

May have to work on weekends or after 5 on occasion - typical of startup life. That being said, this isn't a norm. Could do better at providing sufficient raises that compensates for both merit and actual cost of living increases.

Pros

My experience at GSVlabs was priceless. During the months I was interning there I dove right in the “Silicon Valley Mindset”. My responsibilities were mostly related to Biz Dev, but even though, I had the opportunity to learn (a lot) about lean startup approaches, raising from VC’s, product development and tech trends like A.I. and Machine Learning (from really big players in the field). The closeness to GSV Capital also helped me to get some pretty good notions about the venture capital world. On the top of that I also had countless activities sponsored by the company, such as indoor climbing, Soul Cycle, Karting, a day at Six Flags and a weekend in a mansion at Lake Tahoe. The wide range of internal events were essential to strongly expand my network. GSVlabs has a really diverse workspace, I'd say that at least 50% of the interns were international students. The familiar environment made the farewell quite hard. It was definitely an unforgettable summer.

Cons

- Sometimes the amount of work was a little overwhelming; I had to work on weekends a couple times. - The rent is absurd in the Bay Area.
