Pros

Morning tea on Mondays, Company phone.

Cons

8am to 5pm job being 42.5 hour weeks. You're working in the back room of an old villa. No proper lunchroom, just a deck — enjoy your lunch outside in winter. Shared workspace means you’re practically in the kitchen or hallway. Random ticket allocation means if something needs after-hours work, it's your problem. Management won't help — you're told to find someone to do it or do it yourself, even if you can't work from home. No proper WFH for first 12 months, supposedly to allow senior support… except senior staff are all working from home anyway. Performance reviews are not transparent. You don’t get one until you’ve been there a full year, and timing depends on your start month — can be up to two years. No clear career progression. You're stuck behind anyone who started before you. Promotions and raises are based on tenure, not skill or contribution. Interview promises of progression are misleading. Projects and extra work don’t help your case. Advancement relies more on who management likes than performance. Management is absent and unapproachable. No private catchups — everything happens in the main office space, so you can’t raise issues honestly. Office gear is old and barely maintained. ThinkStation mini PCs are cycled endlessly with new users given hand-me-downs. Headsets are falling apart. Desks and chairs are worn and uncomfortable. Money is spent in baffling ways. E.g., $200 on Friday beers, new iPhones for secondary work phones, yet can’t replace 10-year-old PCs. Low pay justified with ‘you're not profitable for 2 years,’ but you're expected to perform at 75%+ productivity almost immediately. Culture of high turnover despite marketing themselves as a place where people "stay long-term." Lots of people leave quickly, and it’s obvious why.
