OnPoint Community CU

Is this your company?

There are 30 job openings at OnPoint as of one day ago and it’s not because they’re growing - Operations Center Employee OnPoint Community CU Employee Review

Pros

It’s because they’ve outgrown their model and the overworked, over whelmed, under appreciated, and under paid employees are finally realizing they can get better everything at another job. OnPoint prides itself in running lean and it’s a soul killer for many employees. There’s been a mass exodus lately and with their pay scales they can’t seem to find anyone worth their salt and keep them around. Their benefits are great, but they’re the same at every other credit union in the area.

Cons

If you’re going to apply for a job here go higher than you normally would or think you should when negotiating pay. If your boss is manipulative, cruel, snarky, etc write it all down and keep a record of it because HR (which has nearly entirely turned over twice in the last 1.5 years) is not on your side.

Pros

Excellent HR internship with welcoming, knowledgeable mentors. The HR department and leadership were genuinely kind and set a strong example of how to support emerging professionals—encouraging growth, confidence, and curiosity rather than viewing inexperience as a weakness. Gained hands-on, real-world experience and insight into nonprofit and corporate environments, including using HRIS systems like Dayforce and pre-hire/onboarding tools such as Sterling.

Cons

Limited number of HR openings

Pros

Excellent benefits package, acceptable pay for position in Portland area, and strong products and services to refer to consumers. Highly recommend to folks looking to start in the banking industry. It's not all glitz and glamour, but it is a strong foundational starting point if you're looking to pursue a career in Retail Banking/Finance Industry. OnPoint is such a strong financial institution in terms of net revenue for corresponding credit unions in the area so there is no fear of the institution to fail anytime soon.

Cons

Strict compliance standards, rotating Saturday shifts, occasional burnout due to high workload, and the requirement of a sales backbone in order to survive the industry.
