Pros
One of the best groups of programmers I've ever worked with. Great team collaboration, energetic whiteboarding sessions and a real focus on writing excellent code.
The project itself is really positive and beneficial and it felt nice working on something that actually has a positive and useful impact on the world.
I was very disappointed to have to leave this job, payroll issues aside it is one of my favorite jobs I've ever had.
Cons
The CEO frequently bounces your paycheck and "forgets" to pay his portion of the insurance premiums. There is a lot of stress never knowing if your paycheck will go through or not, or if you show up for a doctor appointment, if you will have valid insurance.
I can accept a small startup going through financial struggles, I really can. But to be issued paycheck after paycheck when the CEO knows that his bank has insufficient funds, rather than being truthful and transparent is really not acceptable, or legal.
