If you suck up to management, do as you're told and stay in your lane, you have your job for another year.
Cons
The company has had multiple rounds of layoffs over the past few years. Instead of investing in its employees, you're brought in to do a job. And once the job has been completed, you're let go. Many teams have a very toxic culture. Existing engineers have established their roles in the team. If you are enthusiastic, curious and happen to 'threten' them or their position, you will be bullied and harassed. And depending on how close they are with management, you may even be let go. You and what you bring to the company don't determine your success. Promotions are incredibly rare. I've seen multiple talented engineers get passed by for others who regularly go out to happy hour with management. The Founder/Chairman/CEO is completely obvious
