Stuck in a failed state - Anonymous employee OffWorld Employee Review

The company consistently struggled to secure enough funding from projects to cover costs, often relying on one project to fund the next. It was poorly managed in numerous ways, and everyone knew the situation wasn’t sustainable. While some managers were just okay, others barely contributed, showing up only to appear busy without doing any real work. I say "was" because, in early 2024, they furloughed all US employees—except for a handful—right after a significant round of layoffs in October. During that round, they let go of long-tenured engineers who had been with the company for years and had contributed immensely, often enduring grueling work to get projects off the ground. To make matters worse, pay was already low and was then further reduced with the promise that things would improve once the next project was secured. Naturally, those promises were never kept. I would strongly advise against considering this company. At its best, it was a poorly managed startup with little regard for budgeting, though it did have talented engineers and good healthcare benefits. These days, it’s hard to say what’s left—perhaps only the company name and a few contractors. I don’t know anyone still there, except maybe the CEO.
