Pros
- Many talented and skilled research staff to work with and learn from.
Cons
- No scientific leadership. Management are mostly non-scientists, but also tend to micromanage projects, which is a terrible combination. Upper management have no understanding of what's scientifically reasonable and have a tendency of jumping on projects based on buzzwords.
- Work hours are 9am-7pm, encouraging presence over efficiency.
- Wet lab is highly disorganized, with one lab manager holding the fort for too many researchers. The parent company ODDITY is rather large, publicly traded and has a good revenue stream, yet Labs are still run inside a startup incubator, contributing to the lack of organization and limiting what can be achieved.
- Turnover is pretty bad, likely owing to all of the above. Many highly experienced scientists with a decade+ of experience were hired after layoffs in other places, but given lower titles and pay, and will likely leave as soon as they can.
