Pros

You have an open and flexible schedule. Once your situated they do let up off of you.

Cons

When you start they do a lot of micro-managing. The owner says they are open to growth and change but they are not. No where to move up.

Pros

Award-winning staff, long-standing brand (since 1980), creative flexibility, energetic creative department, stellar reputation, leader in the industry, excellence in content/design, organic relationships with clients/community, single ownership, fun environment, family-first office mentality, we bring our pups to work, give back to the community, Ocala's oldest magazine, diverse office culture and content culture, uncapped potential, beautiful office environment, friendly staff.

Cons

Since Ocala Magazine was birthed, the community seems to be saturated with magazines – overkill. Not necessarily a con of Ocala Magazine but certainly an obstacle for sales and marketing. Luckily we have the best, highest quality publication in Marion County so we do set ourselves apart.

Pros

You get to work in a beautiful building.

Cons

Owner/Manager does not disclose that you're not selling at the same price as the other sales people. Anytime you get close to closing a sale, it magically becomes another person's prospect. The majority of prospects I sat with, unequivocally say that they will never deal with the magazine. The word "shady" was bandied about quite a bit. As a sales person, I was lied to by the owner, constantly - made it impossible to be effective.
