Pros

Some of the people there were great to work with. Decent benefits. Being apart of history

Cons

The place was very toxic. If leadership does not like you, they would find something to get you terminated because god forbid if HR gave a damn about their jobs and do some investigating and get the truth. Leadership can do and say whatever they want without any repercussions. POC (mostly black women) at the organization are being forced out with the help of leadership and HR. The organization could be a wonderful place to work for if leadership would stand by the core values that the Obama’s stood for. They want analysts and associates to do all the work and they take the credit for it. Respect, integrity and loyalty is not something leadership follows only if you’re white or come from an elite family.

Pros

You have the opportunity to contribute and be part of the inaugural opening of a new cultural institution. There is a lot of "behind the scene" effort that you get to witness and aid in implementation. It is inspirational to be with the communities that are excited to see the completed campus. There are some nice and outgoing folks that work there.

Cons

This organization has a very toxic workplace environment, and the leadership (including managers, directors, VP's, etc.) is very disorganized. They preach about morals and values but do not practice any of them in the org. Colleagues that have been there for more than 5 years have been jaded by the constant restructuring and do not earnestly work cooperatively with each other without scour. It is a very negative workplace and very hierarchal. If you do not hold a senior title, then you are not respected. There is a lot of gatekeeping, gaslighting, dismissive behavior, and there are too many managers that gossip. This was one of the worst job experiences that I have ever had, and am very disappointed in how this organization is lead. The Executive Leadership team is very indecisive and there are constant back-and-forth changes that affects everyone, but they care very little about the upset. There is also a huge divide between senior staff and junior staff because this organization unfortunately operates by high school politics and perceived popularity. You also have to watch out for working with a lot of egos and passive aggressive behavior. Leadership will make you over-work, and then have little appreciation for successful outcomes.
