Pros

LOVE the patients and co-workers. Typically good teamwork. Most everyone works very hard and does the best they can in a struggling healthcare system.

Cons

Charting system - ECS; very "old school" with a lot of redundencies. Wound care orders - things were getting worse/never healing; no attempts by MD to research and try something else. No accountability, instead there was often shift-splitting (blaming the other shifts). Multiple DON changes. High ratios, particularly for CNAs (2:30) with multiple 2-person cares. Weekly on-call shifts - weren't initially that bad, but for the last 3-4 months, most on-calls were forced.

Pros

+Flexibility with schedule for those in school. +most workers are helpful and friendly +chances to pick up shifts plentiful.

Cons

-2x a month paydays. -On call policy, some days you are on call meaning you work an 8hr day and if the following shift is short, you are required to work a double. -3rd shift can complain to management that 2nd isn't doing a good job. -desperate for cnas so tend to hire any that pass drug and background check, some leave within 90 days, usually within the first 30 days. -Only nurses/nurse techs can do CPR, cnas are not allowed. So far only 1 AED in building for 74 bed facility. -gossip is rampant, but that is most places. -vital signs equipment seriously lacking. -lpn starting pay just bumped up to $18/hr.
